Shawn is the lead pastor of Redemption Hill Church. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and raised in Dubuque. In his early twenties, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. After 16 years Shawn sensed God’s calling to move back to Iowa to begin a church in the Des Moines metro. His local and regional eldership has affirmed Shawn’s calling. His education and experience include a Bachelor of Science from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Master of Theology from Saint John’s University. He is an ordained elder through Sovereign Grace Churches and was a pastor on staff at Sovereign Grace Church in Burnsville, Minnesota for over four years.
Shawn enjoys reading, working out, drinking a good cup of coffee, and watching Chicago Cubs baseball. He has been married to Charice for over 11 years, and they have two daughters, Chloe and Isabelle. Within the context of the local church, Shawn is passionate about the preaching of God’s Word, discipleship, and seeing the gospel go forth, redeeming and renewing individuals so that they can flourish to the glory of God.
Pastoral interns at Redemption Hill serve the church while also discerning the call to pastoral ministry. Pastoral internships are nine months long and allow men unique insight into pastoral ministry. Internships provide for an ongoing, multifaceted view of a man’s life and gifting by the elders and members of the local church in evaluating qualifications for pastoral ministry.
Logan Kane is married to his wonderful and supportive wife Kennedy. He is currently a student at Spurgeon College and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in pursuit of greater biblical knowledge and a dedication to the Word of God. His family joined Redemption Hill Church because he saw the need to be on mission to advance the gospel through church planting.
Brooks has seen the need and the felt the calling toward international missions and has been pursuing that calling for almost five years. His passion is for the gospel and the local church. He is also currently attending seminary at Spurgeon College and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and is serving at Redemption Hill Church in various capacities.
