Elders at Redemption Hill Church
Shawn Powers, Lead Elder
Shawn is the lead pastor of Redemption Hill Church. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and raised in Dubuque. In his early twenties, he moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. After 16 years Shawn sensed God’s calling to move back to Iowa to begin a church in the Des Moines metro. His local and regional eldership has affirmed Shawn’s calling. His education includes a Bachelor of Science from the University of Northwestern – St. Paul, a Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Master of Theology from Saint John’s University. He is an ordained elder through Trinity Fellowship Churches.
Shawn enjoys reading, working out, drinking a good cup of coffee, and watching Chicago Cubs baseball. He has been married to Charice for over 13 years, and they have two daughters, Chloe and Isabelle. Within the context of the local church, Shawn is dedicated to preaching the God of Word, discipleship, and seeing the gospel go forth, redeeming and renewing individuals so that they can flourish to the glory of God.
Rob Lane, Elder of Discipleship (In-Training)
Pastoral interns at Redemption Hill serve the church while also discerning the call to pastoral ministry. Pastoral internships are nine months long and allow men unique insight into pastoral ministry. Internships provide for an ongoing, multifaceted view of a man’s life and gifting by the elders and members of the local church in evaluating qualifications for pastoral ministry.
Logan Kane is married to his wonderful and supportive wife Kennedy. Logan graduated from Spurgeon College and also received his Master of Divinity degree from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. His family joined Redemption Hill Church because he saw the need to be on mission to advance the gospel through church planting. Logan is currently a Pastoral Resident at Redemption Hill. Logan currently works at Athene while Kennedy works at Central Bank in West Des Moines.
Director of Corporate Worship
The Director of Corporate Worship serves the local church by cultivating corporate expressions of worship, instruction, and encouragement through Scripture, prayer, and song, in the footsteps of Ephesians 5: “Be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.” The Director also equips and fosters worship arts leaders, singers, musicians, and technicians in their practice of facilitating the congregation’s expressions of worship.
